WHAT ARE THE IGNATIAN SPIRITUAL EXERCISES?
- A guided experience using the Spiritual Exercises written by St. Ignatius of Loyola in the 16th century as a result of his own spiritual experience of encountering and befriending Jesus by praying through the Scriptures, empowered by the Holy Spirit, with his mind, emotions, and imagination. Ignatius shared his exercises with others, and out of this, a movement grew that eventually became the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). Since the 16th century, the Exercises have been revised into a more accessible language, and many, many people have found these spiritual exercises to be transformative in their faith and lives.
- The exercises takes place primarily in your own daily times with God over nine months, from late September through May, using the Ignatian prayer materials provided.
- Included are nine video teachings, monthly one-on-one sessions with me as your Director, and nine Zoom gatherings with a cohort of people I am leading through the Retreat.
